Lifting Equipments

On April 28 2010, a contract was signed for the design and engineering services including master planning and infrastructure designs for Freezone Sohar. The signing took place in Muscat, Oman with the CEO of Port of Sohar, Mr Jan H. Meijer,  Mr Jamal T. Aziz, the DCEO of Port of Sohar and COO of Sohar Freezone Sohar LLC and Mr. Vinod Shah; Managing Director of Mott MacDonald & Co LLC.
 
The Port of Sohar started the journey to becoming a very important factor in many ways when the concession agreement was signed in 2002. The addendum to the original concession agreement for the Port of Sohar was signed in 2007 to develop and manage 4500 ha for establishing the Freezone Sohar. The work in preparing for this big development has today moved in to the next phase.

After an intensive tendering process in which both price and quality were carefully assessed, Mott MacDonald & Co LLC was selected. The contract signed today includes for example detailing the master plan, a geotechnical investigation and designing roads and related works.
 
The signing of the design and engineering contract signals the start of installing the needed infrastructure for the Phase 1 development of Freezone Sohar. This is seen by the Freezone authority as a critical step in addressing the needs of prospective customers
